Rainbow Online Connection (ROC)
Connection doesn’t end when summer does.
ROC is Welcome Friend Association’s year-round, virtual program bringing 2SLGBTQ+ youth, adults, and seniors together to build belonging, resilience, and mutual care — no matter where they live.
For many participants, ROC is the only affirming space available to them.
Youth and Adults have separate update lists and surveys to keep each space intentional and safe.
We’ll add real attendance metrics once pilots are underway.
Why ROC matters
Across Canada, many 2SLGBTQ+ people — especially youth and seniors — experience isolation due to geography, mobility, health, or lack of local acceptance.
ROC removes those barriers by creating affirming community without requiring travel, disclosure, or performance. This is prevention. This is mental health support. This is belonging.
What ROC includes
Brave Space facilitation
Structured sessions led with care, clear agreements, and consent-based participation.
Privacy-first design
Cameras optional. You control what you share and when. No pressure to be “out.”
Intergenerational connection
Youth, adults, and seniors building belonging through stories, creativity, and mutual support.
Rolling out in phases
We start small, learn what participants want, and grow as resources are confirmed.
Collect interest, confirm timing, refine topics and accessibility needs.
Small group circles with facilitation, feedback, and safety-first improvements.
More sessions, new partnerships, and expanded offerings as funding allows.
Expansion depends on funding and partnerships — ROC will grow as resources are confirmed.
Choose your pathway
Youth and adults often have different needs, comfort levels, and life experiences. ROC offers separate pathways so each space can be designed intentionally and safely.
ROC for Youth (13–24)
A supportive online space for 2SLGBTQ+ youth to connect with peers, build confidence, and feel less alone.
ROC for Adults (25+)
An online community for 2SLGBTQ+ adults seeking connection, conversation, and creative engagement.
If you are in immediate danger or need urgent mental health support, please contact local emergency services.
